INFRARED SENSOR Model Number HPHIS1-4
The HPHIS1-4 is a contactless infrared sensor, and is commonly purchased as part of a package that includes the HPH1000 controller and remote display.  It can also be purchased seperately as replacement part if the customer's sensor is damaged.   Housed in a unique thermally isolated PTFE housing, the HPHIS1-4 features HPH's patent pending technology that provides accurate and reliable temperature measurement.  The sensor housing is rated for temperatures as high as 400°F.  The infrared sensor is perfect for monitoring drive belt temperature of any CVT system.  The sensor has the following features:
 
Ability to measure object temperatures ranging from -90°F- 700°F.
The maximum temperature rating of the sensor electronics is 257°F.  Testing has verfied that for enclosed CVT monitoring applications, the internal sensor electronics generally run a minimum of 50°F below the temperature of the belt, therefore the sensor electronics are safefly operating within their specified temperature rating for belt temperatures all the way to 307°F.  When considering that we recommend keeping a drive belt at 225°F or under, the rating of our sensor electronics is more than sufficient for CVT monitoring applications.  The 50°F minimum is considered a worse case value, for units with superior CVT cooling systems (such as the Polaris Zeus chassis or units that use blowers) this minimum value can easily be increased to 70°F. 
The sensor housing features a low profile design where only 1/2" of clearance is required when mounting over a CVT housing. 
The sensor is provided with 4 feet of cable, meaning the HP1000 controller should be mounted within 4 feet of the sensor. The sensor cable is shielded and protected with flame retardant (UL-94 / V2), polypropylene wire loom rated for installations from -40°F to 275°F.
The infrared sensor is equipped with a 4 pin female delphi connector to allow quick connection to any HPH 1000 controller.
